How-To: Convert and import AVI to iPod with Mac OS X
Whether you've some AVI videos stored on your hard drive for a while, or you've been downloading movies from torrent, you probably have a few AVI movies somewhere on your Mac. If you try to import these AVI to iTunes for iPod, you'll notice that iTunes don't understand what to do with it.
To get an AVI into iTunes and then onto your iPod, there are two methods you can use, both of which work equally well.
However, method two is more time-consuming compared with method one, which encodes AVI faster and enables you to convert several AVI at one go.
Method one: Convert AVI with iPod Video Converter for Mac
1.Load AVI to the program
Drag & drop AVI files to the program. Or go to "File" menu, choose "Add Video" to locate the AVI files you want to add.

To convert the file to a format which your iPod recognizes, choose File > Export… then select a format from the dropdown list; MPEG-4 or iPod are the best options to choose for this purpose. Choose where to save the new file and hit OK.
